Tika has worked as a singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Her vocal abilities span a broad range of styles from Jazz, Bossa Nova, R&B, to Indian Ragas.
She has trained at SF State, the Vox Mundi School (San Francisco & Bahia, Brazil), and the Osho Academy (Maharashtra, India). For the last several years Tika has studied the techniques of speech level singing with instructor Judith May. 2000 - 2002 sang lead vocals for Brazilian electronica group Superbacana. Tika can be found singing Superbacana's song "Era Verdade" on San Francisco Under A Groove (Newhouse Records). "Superbacana's self titled EP features charming languid vocals by Tika Morgan." - THE BEAT "...gorgeous Portuguese and English vocals from Tika Morgan... [Superbacana's EP] will get you out of the lounge and onto the floor." - BPM She has found success peforming with popular San Francisco-based Brazilian Soul band Boca do Rio in Bay Area venues and events such as The Independent, Cafe du Nord, the Black and White Ball, and the North Beach Jazz Festival. 2005-2009 In 2008 she was featured at Pres a Vi singing with Labareda, has collaborated with Jazz Philosophy, music Producer Geoffery Gordon and can be heard as backing vocalist on "Bemebe" with Pedro de Jesus. From 2007-2009 Tika performed as both soloist and backing vocalist for Jimmy Dillon's theater production of Ascension Of The Blues; a retrospective following the evolution of indigenous American music through song, dance and theater. |
